Hop-Cube will be incubated in two weeks at Paris Innovation Bourse incubator!
Posted on February 14th, 2009
That’s official, we will integrate the incubator Paris Innovation Bourse on next February, 25th. We were in a relationship for many months now but the date was still unknown. This will give us the opportunity to have a place to work and to receive advice from knowledgeable experts.
Until February 25th, Emmanuel Guiton, manager of the startup called elodig, has kindly agreed to host us in its premises. In few words, elodig is a company whose business is centered around the technologies of digital cinema, especially on distribution, mobile technology and certification of digital cinema.
Now that we change our course of study end creation enterprise, we are dedicated full-time on the progress of Hop-Cube! This incubation time has come to extend our efforts and enhance our launch.

Hop-Cube at Microsoft Techdays 2009, Paris!
Posted on February 13th, 2009
The Hop-cube team attended the sessions of presentations of new products released by Microsoft at the event Techdays 2009 held at the Palais des Congrès, Paris!
This year, something new has emerged in the sessions: a GreenIT session-pack composed of lectures and roundtables on topics overviewing both aspects “infrastructure” and “development” (which is rare for the moment) .
One of the GreenIT sessions that we attended was presented by the excellent Eric Mittelette (here is a post explaining the idea of a GreenIT session-pack) and Eric Vernié. They demonstrated, holding a powermeter in hand, that the optimization of algorithms used in software strongly impacts (up to three times) the power consumption of the machine running the program.
It was three days of intensive training on all new products, including tools around virtualization and cloud computing / hosting (Azure services plateform), and an opportunity for us to see the efforts realized by Microsoft to meet the expectations of its (professionals) customers in terms of sustainable development.
We hope that this initiative will be repeated and reinforced next year!

Meetup with David Cohen from TechStars incubator
Posted on February 3rd, 2009
David Cohen, co-founder and director of the incubator / investment organization TechStars, organized a small informal meeting (during his vacation in Paris) to meet with interested entrepreneurs to apply for the next recrutment session.
Based in Boulder, Colorado, TechStars aims to invest up to $ 18,000 in ten startups selected thanks to an application file and to run along them by positioning itself as a real co-founder. Each startup is associated with a TechStars ”mentor” (most often an experienced entrepreneur) who does every effort make the new company successful.
The startups entering the TechStars program have the opportunity to incorporate an office in Boulder during a whole summer to work closely with the organization. Every summer, TechStars organizes events whereare invited major companies (AOL, Microsoft, Google, …) as well as VC specialized in new technologies.
Thus, for two years, 70% of startups into TechStars raised funds from several hundred thousands dollars or now fly their own wings. Among these include SocialThing (acquired by AOL in 2008) and Intense Debate (acquired by Automattic / WordPress recently).
This meeting was the occasion to meet, among others, Luis Arias (Managing Partner & Founder at Pilango) and Erik Vos (Viral Affairs) and two others entrepreneurs from London (whom I forgot the project’s name, shame on me … ).
The agenda of the meeting was almost only made of discussions on projects of each and on the theme of entrepreneurship and innovation in general, and this all in the cool atmosphere of a Starbucks near St. Germain.
A nice moment!
